Shifting Focus in September

big things

It has been a really busy 4 months since I launched this blog.  Originally I was just going to share some of the character building activities my family was enjoying (as part of the challenge I gave myself to build character every day of this year, starting on my birthday) but I have expanded to include posts about parenting, motherhood, and reviewing favorite character building products as well.

I have been pleasantly surprised about the unexpected relationships I am building with other bloggers who are passionate about the same topics (a few collaborative projects are in the works) and have been learning so much about blogging and writing in general.  I have also been busy behind the scenes working on several new resources, including my ebook Playing with Purpose which I hope will be available by November.

Everything links back to and fuels my passion for building character – there is just so much to share and learn – and it has been very personally rewarding!  I am looking forward to what the future brings and am so, so glad to have you all join me on this journey.

The next two weeks I will be very busy with two Full-Circle Learning 2-day workshops I have helped to organize in Australia and Papua New Guinea.  I will be going on my first trip away from the kids (5 days!)… and right in the middle of the trainings is my son’s 5th birthday.  It is going to be a very exciting, full-on time for my family.  I am hoping to make a lot of great memories and the anticipation is building to find out how the workshops will go (which I will share more about later).

Because my schedule is going to be so packed, I’ve decided to take a 2 week blogging break to concentrate on these other commitments.  Therefore I wont be publishing posts or updating my social media accounts until later in September.  But do check back because I have some very meaningful posts scheduled for the end of the month – including articles about miscarriage and fighting hunger, to name just a couple.

Here are some posts published a while back which you can check out in the meantime:

  • Teaching Kids to Care for Animals
  • 10 Life Lessons for Kids
  • 10 Ways to Model a Loving Relationship to Your Kids
  • 10+ Ways to Use Emotion Cards to Help Your Child Develop Empathy

RAK

I have also written two articles that have been published elsewhere in the past month which you may enjoy reading.  One explores how we are teaching kindness into our home life as part of the “Random Acts of Kindness Challenge” series at All Done Monkey which you can see here.

The other was a featured piece in the latest edition of “Play Grow Learn” which is a fabulous ezine produced by Childhood 101.  My article discusses what “character building” really is and why I am so passionate about it, and also outline 6 original activities to help kids develop specific character traits.  Check it out here.

If you have been reading my blog for a while (or if you are new!) I would love to hear what you would like to see on my blog.  More activities?  More printables?  More product reviews?  (There are so many great resources out there!)  Let me know and I will keep that in mind while writing new posts.

Thanks for stopping by and I’ll “see” you in a couple weeks.
