10 fun and upbeat songs that also give a positive message to kids

Music is a key to the soul.  It can portray emotions that no words can, influence the mood in a room, and become etched in memory.  Do you ever associate particular songs with specific memories or times in your life?  I sure do.  And I bet our kids will as well… so let’s give them some songs about love to permeate their childhood memories!

Over the past couple weeks I have shared 10 creative ways to tell kids “I love you” and 10 easy ways to show kids love {without words}, and this week I will share 10 fun love songs for kids {give loving feelings and teach loving habits}.  These are songs our family has enjoyed, and I hope you will too!  All the music videos are kid-friendly as well so feel free to watch them together if you like.

This article is part of my series “Sharing the Love: 100 Ways for You and Your Kids to Make a Difference In The World.”  I believe the more we shower love on our kids, the more love they will spread in the world!  Follow along here.

Here are the songs!

L.O.V.E. – Hi 5

A catchy song about love, and the kids will learn to spell “love” while you’re at it.

What I Am – Will.i.am

I love this song because it reminds me to look for the best in my kids and also to remind them to look for the best in themselves and everyone around them. A key habit to show and receive love.

C’mon – Renee & Jeremy

This is a sweet song about letting beauty into your life… a reminder to accept challenges when they come and work through them together.

Don’t Give Up – Bruno Mars

Reminding our kids that we believe in them no matter what, and that we can help them not give up, is a powerful reminder of love!

You And Me – Hi 5

We’re all different but those differences make us unique and lovable.

Belly Breathe – Common and Colbie Caillat with Elmo

Giving children tools to work through tough situations (anger, frustration, sadness) is such a gift. My children absolutely adore this song and video, and it’s a great reminder to me of how I can help all of us “breathe” through challenges and still show love in the process.

Inside My Heart – Hi 5

A nice way to show kids you always have them in your heart, whether you are together or apart.

You Make Me Feel Like Dancing – The Wiggles

Sweet way to show kids you love them – sing and dance!

How Much Do I Love You? – Hi 5

Sweet song about how much “I love you.”

Night Mantra – Renee & Jeremy

Lovely night time song for kiddos… showing a bedtime ritual many parents go through. 🙂

I hope you enjoyed these fun love songs for kids!  If you have any more to suggest, please leave the name and link (if there’s an official music video) in the comments!

Next in the series I will share my 10 favorite children’s books about love.

Oh this is just great! I sing to my son a lot, especially when he’s trying to get to sleep, we love music and he loves dancing. I’ve been trying to think of new songs to sing because it’s always a rotation of Do a Dear (Sound of Music), Raindrops on Roses (Sound of Music), Twinkle Twinkle Little Star etc. I will definitely start to include these songs, oh and I just ADORE Bruno Mars…that’ll be top of the list!

Thanks a bunch for linking up with Mummy Mondays at The Multitasking Mummy. I really appreciate it.

Thanks for this. I will have to trial them on my kids in the next couple of days. They both love dancing and I am always searching for new songs. It’s great they have a good message too.

Great collection, I think before choosing songs, keep in mind that your child has the benefit of doing more than just listening. To fully enjoy the music, children must sing, clap and dance with tunes.
