It’s official – I’ve moved my Positive Discipline parenting classes online! To see the dates and times of the class starting 18/19 July, 2020 visit this link: http://www.momentsaday.com/product/online-positive-discipline-parenting-class/

I’ve loved the face-to-face interaction of teaching live parenting classes over the last few years but can’t deny that taking an online class is often MUCH more convenient, so I’m very excited to now offer this new option to parents as well! I’ve taken so many (perhaps too many?!) classes and courses over the last 4+ months due to COVID restrictions, and have learned a lot about how to utilise the online space. It’s been a steep learning curve but also incredibly awesome to see the potential for great, engaging, meaningful online learning. I can’t wait to share the Positive Discipline materials with those who sign up for the class starting next weekend!

Positive Discipline classes are engaging, practical, and will teach you concepts to apply to all relationships (not just kids!).  I love the growth I receive every time I review Positive Discipline theory and get a thrill out of seeing participants have so many “aha” moments that translate into happier, calmer family life.

My first online class is discounted to only USD10 (AUD15) per class. There are 6 classes which are 12 hours in total.  12 hours to focus on developing better connections with your kids, and learning ways to help your parenting skills become more effective. 12 hours may seem like a lot but if we think about ALL THE TIME we spend with our kids, it’s a drop in the bucket and SO WORTH IT (in my personal opinion, at least!).

Why do I like Positive Discipline? Because it’s an organised collection of ideas and creative ways to bring my priorities (helping my kids develop positive character traits and learn life skills) into practice in my own home. It’s all about mutual respect, raising capable, empathetic kids… and learning to be the best parent (and person) you can be. It’s about developing communication skills, being a model for what you want your children to do, and building a more unified family.

Will taking this class make parenting less HARD? Yes and no. By taking a parenting class, your challenges at home will not go away. Life is hard. Parenting is hard. Growing up is hard! Yet Positive Discipline has given me more perspective and more practical ways of putting our challenges into the frame of being opportunities to learn. So in this way, YES it makes my job of parenting easier.

For example… kids won’t clean their rooms? We’ll look at WHY they won’t. Is it because they feel like it’s a punishment because of the way you asked them (or keep nagging them)? Is it because it’s become a power struggle? Is it because you haven’t set clear expectations and the task just feels too overwhelming? Once we determine the possible reasons, we’ll look at ways to help your child move past the challenge and GROW as a result. Life is full of challenges and this program is meant to help parents help their kids learn from them. (And definitely, we as parents learn from them, too!)

Positive Discipline gives a framework for understanding the beliefs behind why our kids do things, and gives tools to help us get our message of LOVE through. We all love our kids but they don’t always feel it because of the parenting habits we’ve developed over time. Positive Discipline is about personal growth. If we don’t grow as people, how can we expect our children to?

Chelsea
