The topics you will see covered on my blog are:
Parenting: Tips and inspiration for practicing intentional and compassionate parenting
Children are not the only ones who need to refine their character… we are all growing! In the Parenting category I offer ideas and inspiration about caring for children with love, perspective, and intention… as well as my own personal insights about embracing life experiences as opportunities for growth. It is hard work being a parent and I do not presume to have all the answers. All of the articles on my website are simply lessons from my own experience. I also give a range of ideas plus practical advice for incorporating character building into the entire family’s routine in my ebook How to Build Character at Home.
Character for Kids: Hands-on activities for kids aimed at building specific character traits such as respect, truthfulness, responsibility etc
Moral education is key to building happy families and a happy world. I do not believe in shaming our kids into “being good” but think they benefit from guidance and practice in order to develop positive character traits. I create character-themed activities because I think character education can be seen similarly to learning Math or English. Games, role plays, stories, and crafts are the best way to learn! You can browse the activity posts by clicking here. I also wrote an ebook Playing with Purpose: Character Building Made Fun to offer a large collection of ideas in an easy-to-use format.
Paying it Forward: Stories about families making a positive difference in the community, plus lists of kind ideas to get you inspired to do the same
Building character fuels our desire to make the world a better place. When we learn about patience, generosity and empathy we naturally want to reach out – we want to connect and to help out however we can. Check out my posts filed under Paying it Forward for simple ideas for incorporating kindness into family activities, plus random acts of kindness, holiday and birthday service projects, and more. If you want to, you can even challenge your family to perform an act of kindness every week and record it in a family scrapbook.
